In response to the legislative requirements set forth by the UK Economic Crime and Transparency Act 2023, that criminalizes the failure to prevent fraud, our organization has taken deliberate steps to reinforce its governance model regarding internal and external fraud.
We published a comprehensive policy outlining clear standards and expectations for all employees reinforcing the tone from the top and the zero tolerance to violations.
We have set up organizational structure with clear anti – fraud related responsibilities and reporting lines to the Board of Directors and the top management who shall ultimately be facing criminal offenses.
We have performed a thorough, bottom-up risk assessment, to all group entities with the participation of all key employees and roles ensuring that all potential vulnerabilities were identified and addressed along with the assessment of the existing anti- fraud control framework. We strengthened our anti-fraud controls and the due diligence processes, introducing robust measures to verify third-party integrity and minimize exposure to illicit activities. Our team designed and analytics, providing real-time monitoring and early detection of suspicious activities. (compliance red flags)
To further embed a culture of compliance, we developed tailored training and awareness materials for staff at all levels, fostering a shared understanding of economic crime risks and responsibilities.
Recognizing the importance of open communication, we integrated economic crime topics into our whistleblowing channels, ensuring employees have a safe avenue to report concerns. All allegations reported tot his channels are thoroughly investigated by ACFE certified fraud examiners and reports are being produced followed by disciplinary sanctions and improvement measures.
As a testament to our commitment, we have been the first organization in Greece to achieve ISO 37003, fraud control management systems attestation, demonstrating our dedication to exceeding industry standards and setting a benchmark for organizational governance.
