Andriani Gerasimidi-Vazeou
Paediatrician and Pediatric Diabetologist, Director of A’ Department of Pediatrics and Director of the Diabetes Center, P&A Kyriakou Children’s Hospital, Athens, Greece
Andriani Gerasimidi-Vazeou is a paediatrician and pediatric diabetologist. She finished Medical School of Athens University and had her training in Pediatrics at the A’ Department of Pediatrics, University of Athens, Aghia Sophia Children’s Hospital. She worked as a fellow in Endocrinology at St Louis Children’s Hospital, Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, under C. Sandiago and as postdoctoral research fellow in diabetes in the field of islet transplantation at the Department of Pathology, Washington University, School of Medicine, St Louis Missouri, USA under Professor P.E. Lacy with a NATO scholarship. Her current position is director of A’ Department of Pediatrics and director of the Diabetes Center of P&A Kyriakou Children’s Hospital in Athens, Greece. Diabetes Center is a European Center of Reference for pediatric and adolescent diabetes and part of the SWEET consortium. She is an author of numerous articles in peer review journals and of a book on nutrition and diabetes. She is a coauthor in Greek Diabetes Guidelines. She has been a reviewer in Pediatric Diabetes and the Εuropean Journal of Clinical Nutrition. She has participated to different multicenter studies. She has been honored with different prizes in Greece and a speaker at domestic and international scientific conferences. She is a former secretary to the ECOG (European Childhood Obesity Group) and a former treasurer at the board of Hellenic Diabetes Association.
