Manolis Xilouris

He is currently serving as the Acting Director of IAASARS of the National observatory of Athens, and manages the operations of Helmos and Kryoneri observatories. He is an astronomer with his research mainly focusing on the exploration of the interstallar gas and dust properties in nearby galaxies. He uses observations mainly in optical and infrared wavelengths as well as radiative transfer models in order to simulate the optical and infrared appearance of galaxies. He is also active in astronomical instrumentation in optical telescopes (Aristarchos telescope, Kryoneri telescope) and infrared observatories (Herschel-HIFI) as well as in optical and quantum telecommunications.
