Maria Alexiou

Maria Alexiou, is a Lawyer and holder of a master’s degree in international and European Human Rights Law from the Law School of the University of Leicester in Great Britain. She specializes in Corporate Sustainability, Social Responsibility, and Accountability in accordance with international and European standards. From 1996 to 2019, she served as Director of Human Resources Development and Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at major companies, including the TITAN Group from 2003 to 2019. She is a founding member of the Greek CSR Hellas Network (2000) and the Greek United Nations Global Compact Network Hellas (2007) and served as Chair of the Board of Directors of CSR Hellas from 2012 to March 2024. Since 2021, she has been participating as a special expert in European and international organizations, including the EFRAG (www.efrag.org) for the development of mandatory and voluntary European Sustainability Reporting Standards for large companies and SMEs, respectively.
In 2022, she participated in the establishment of a company providing specialized consulting services, training, and comparative research on corporate sustainability and responsibility issues under the name ALMA Services for Sustainability (www.almaservices.eu) and joined the EFRAG VSME Community, which aims to promote the acceptance and implementation of the voluntary European Standard for SMEs. Member of the Board of Directors of the non-governmental organization “Organization GHI” and the Institute for Policy and Strategy Research INERPOST.
