
Simos Malamis
Professor at the Department of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering of the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens
Dr Simos Malamis is a Professor at the Sanitary Engineering Laboratory of the Department of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering of the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). His research focuses on the development and application of innovative processes and technologies for wastewater treatment, water reuse and material recovery, and nature-based solutions. Dr Malamis has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed international scientific journals and has more than 200 presentations at international conferences. He has significant experience in the implementation of research projects, having participated in 45 research projects, serving as the principal investigator for 22 of them. He is the coordinator of the Horizon Europe research projects CARDIMED and NURISH and was the coordinator of the Horizon 2020 project HYDROUSA. These research projects focus on the implementation of nature-based solutions for water resources management. Dr. Malamis teaches courses related to environmental technology, water and wastewater treatment, and the design of relevant facilities.
