Dr. Maria Argyropoulou

Cultural Sociologist, Research and Τeaching Fellow, Department of Tourism Management, University of Patras

Maria Argyropoulou is Research and Τeaching Fellow at the Department of Tourism Management of the University of Patras, with a field of expertise in Image, Communication, Information, and Culture. She holds a degree in Sociology from Panteion University and a PhD in Education Sciences from University of Patras. She has studied iconography at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, under the guidance of professors Toma Verbanov and Asen Gitsov, as well as Art Conservation under the guidance of professor Mladost Volkova. She has also studied “Museum Education Programs in Education” at the University of Athens.

He taught at the Ionian University in the Department of Archives and Library Science and at the Department of Museology of the Technological Foundation of Western Greece.

She has authored two monographs on communication through images and participated in edited volumes with sections on cultural heritage. She has published articles in Greek and international scientific journals and conference proceedings with peer review. At the same time, she has curated a significant number of visual arts and folklore exhibitions and has collaborated on the conception and implementation of museum projects.
