Senior Sustainability Advisor – European Climate Pact Ambassador
Dr. Ioannis Pappas, Founder of GREEN EVOLUTION, is a Mechanical Engineer holding a PhD in Applied Mechanics, with more than 30 years of professional experience. His work focuses on the development and implementation of sustainability solutions in tourism, the energy and environmental upgrading of buildings, and the support of businesses, organizations, and destinations in climate change adaptation and mitigation. He provides strategic consultancy on standards, certification, technological innovation, and the implementation of integrated sustainability methodologies. He is the Regional Director for Europe of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), a Destination Assessor and approved Trainer in Southeast Europe, as well as an advisor on sustainable tourism certification standards. Since 2025, he has served as an EU Climate Pact Ambassador and Expert of the European Urban Initiative – Innovative Actions (EUI-IA), actively contributing to the promotion of climate resilience, sustainable urban development, and the transition of destinations toward more responsible and resilient operational models.
