Dr. Matthew Maheras

Dr. Matthew Maheras is Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Metrostar Management Corp., where he leads fleet-wide digital transformation, IT/OT integration, AI Adoption and cyber security initiatives. He currently serves as President of AMMITEC (Association of Maritime Managers in Information Technology & Communications), promoting collaboration and innovation across the maritime IT community. Earlier in his career, he held senior technology and operations roles, including participation in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games Organising Committee, gaining experience in large-scale, mission-critical systems. He holds a PhD from the National Technical University of Athens and an MBA from Imperial College London and has been recognised with distinctions such as IT Manager of the Year and inclusion in the CIO Power 50. Dr. Maheras is a frequent speaker and panelist on maritime cyber security, digitalization, AI, and regulatory compliance.
