Kyriaki Bakirtzi, M.Sc., Ph.D.
Biologist, Biochemist, Scientific Director of Experimental, Educational & Research Center, ELPEN & Academic Coordinator at the Panhellenic Union of Pharmaceutical Industries
Dr. Bakirtzi is a Biologist, Biochemist. She worked at the Department of Electronic Structure and Lasers, FORTH, Crete and then moved with a full scholarship for her Ph.D. at Boston University School of Medicine.
She continued as a Postdoctoral Fellow at UCLA School of Medicine. In 2011 and 2017 she received the 3rd and 1st Prize for her research respectively at the Digestive Disease Week World Conference.
Since 2014 she has been an Assistant Project Scientist and Project Manager at the UCLA Center for Systems Biomedicine, winning two Young Investigator awards and receiving funding from the NIH and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
Between 2003 and 2019 she published numerous articles and gave lectures at the Harvard School of Medicine, the Cleveland Clinic, the Mayo Clinic, etc. as a recognized expert in animal models and microvesicle isolation methods she developed herself.
Today she is the Scientific Director of EERC, ELPEN and the Academic Coordinator at the Panhellenic Union of Pharmaceutical Industries.
