Professor Theodoros Mariolis – Sapsakos

Professor Theodoros Mariolis – Sapsakos graduated from University of Athens Medical School and has a PhD from the same university. He has specialized in General Surgery at the Eugenideion Hospital and at General Hospital of Athens “Evangelismos”. He also attended postgraduate training programs in surgical oncology – laparoscopic upper gastrointestinal surgery at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm.
Since 2014 he is the director of Anatomy – Embryology – Histology Lab at the Department of Nursing of the University of Athens. As director he introduced many innovations in the education of students, such as the institution of peer teaching and the technological upgrade of the laboratory with digital anatomical tables with augmented reality capabilities through artificial intelligence. He participated in the publication of 14 academic books. He has participated in more than 83 scientific conferences as a speaker and he has more than 202 abstracts in Greek and 85 in international conferences. Mr. Mariolis has 179 scientific publications with 1430 citations. He has participated in numerous research projects, the most recent being “Augmented Reality – Internet of Things – Artificial Intelligence in Surgery” of the Department of Informatics, University of Piraeus.
