Socrates Costicoglou
Director of Applications & R&D Division, Space Hellas
Socrates Costicoglou is the Director of Applications & R&D Division of Space Hellas. He holds a Dipl-Eng. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece, and a M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University NY. He joined Space Hellas in 1998 and is leading a team responsible for the management and execution of more than 24 current (2024) Research and Development projects funded by both European and National programs (EDF, Horizon Europe, ESA, Digital Europe) related to the topics of Cybersecurity and AI, Space Based Surveillance and Communications, 5G/6G, Cloud Computing, Quantum QKD, Open Source Intelligence, Sensor Networks and IoT. Since 2010 has worked in large scale commercial projects like Greece N-VIS Project for the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hellenic Police Projects (AFIS System, PNR, SPOC, eCrime), Malta’s MITA Hybrid Cloud Project as a principal Technical Project Manager and Architect. He was the project coordinator of the ACRITAS Project (si_Cluster) aimed at the research, design, development and validation of space-based integrated applications for surveillance and monitoring through advanced multi-sensor data fusion technologies. He was member of the executive board of the Hellenic Space Technologies and Applications Cluster (si-Cluster) in Greece, of which Space Hellas is a founding member. He is author or co-author of more than 30 publications in international journals and referred conferences/workshops.
