Dr. Maria Kalama is a visionary business leader with a 23-year career in the space sector. Notably, she led a £420 million research fund for the UK Space Agency (ESA ARTES) resulting in tangible growth for the British space ecosystem and a portfolio of advanced space technologies. As Managing Director for Open Cosmos Aegean, Maria leads the company’s presence in Greece but in parallel, she continues to drive strategic growth initiatives for the broader Open Cosmos Group. Maria’s diverse experiences also include positions across Europe, in Lacuna Space, Euroconsult, Eutelsat, and Airbus Defence and Space. She holds a PhD in broadband satellite communications, and remains a key supporter for women in tech.
