
Professor Antonios Gasteratos
Department of Production and Management Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace
He received his M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace, in 1994 and 1998 respectively. He holds the academic rank of Full Professor in the field of Robotics, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Computer Vision and Machine Learning. He has served as Head of Department (2015–2020), and he is currently the Dean of the School of Engineering and also Director of the Robotics and Automation Laboratory. He has led numerous national and international research projects, with a focus on intelligent robotic perception, UAV-based environmental sensing, and Industry 4.0/5.0 technologies, with cumulative funding exceeding €6M, from EU, ESA, GSRI, HFRI and the industry. He has published circa 300 publications listed in Scopus, with over 5,500 citations and an h-index of 37. He Subject Editor-in-Chief of IET Electronics Letters and Associate Editor of Expert Systems with Applications and International Journal of Optomechatronics.He is a Fellow of the IET, a Senior Member of IEEE and member of the plenary of EETT.
