George Kapetanakis
President, Hellenic Cancer Federation (ELL.O.K.)
George Kapetanakis is the President of the Hellenic Cancer Federation (ELL.O.K.), Vice President of the Pieria Cancer Patients Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation of the Hellenic Society of Haematology. He also serves as a member of the Working Groups of the Ministry of Health on the National Cancer Registry and Clinical Trials.
With a strong international presence, he is a member of the Board of Directors of All.Can International for the 2025–2026 term and of the Globalized Patient Advocacy Working Group of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO – GPAWG) for the 2025–2026 term. He previously served (2022–2023) as Secretary of the Board of the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC).
His personal experience with hematological cancer was the catalyst for his active engagement in supporting cancer patients. Together with other patients who shared the same vision, since 2015 he has consistently worked towards the establishment and development of the Hellenic Cancer Federation, as the national umbrella organization for cancer patient associations in Greece.
During his presidency, ELL.O.K. was officially recognized as the National Hub of Greece for the Cancer Mission, a role he continues to serve in as its President.
He is also an active volunteer and member of the “Orama Elpidas” Bone Marrow Donor Association, promoting the national awareness campaign for voluntary bone marrow donation. A strong advocate of the European perspective, he considers it both a necessary and sufficient condition to address today’s challenges in cancer care effectively and to reduce existing inequalities. Furthermore, he believes that collaboration among cancer patient organisations at the European level can provide effective solutions to the serious problems cancer patients face across Europe.
Alongside his advocacy work, George Kapetanakis has a professional background in the financial sector, with a focus on stock market investments.
