Dimitrios Loukas
Mayor of Lavreotiki
Dimitrios Loukas, Mayor of Lavreotiki since 2003 till this day, with a small pause of three and a half years (2011 – 2014) when he was elected in the main opposition. He has been described as the “Mayor of the big projects” who created the municipality’s infrastructure. Even his political opponents have acknowledged his diligence.
Teacher by profession, with intense cultural and environmental activity, he has been awarded numerous PanHellenic and European scope prizes during his twenty-year tenure. In the dual role of the educator and the director, he encouraged creative initiatives of his students and under his initiative, numerous innovative educational methods were successfully tested on the teaching practice.
Envisioning a balanced development in all municipal units of the new “Kallikratic Municipality”, which united Agios Konstantinos, Keratea and Lavrio, he managed to put aside any dividing lines that divide and polarize our society, the dividing lines that weaken the administration power and put forward the proliferation of forces.
