Alternate Mayor of Heraklion – Deputy Mayor of Administration and Tourism, Municipality of Heraklion,Crete.
Giorgos Agrimanakis is Deputy Mayor for Administration & Tourism of the Municipality of Heraklion, with long-standing experience in local government and in the health sector. During his tenure in the municipal administration he has undertaken key responsibilities in critical areas of municipal governance. With the assumption of office by the new municipal administration in 2024, he served as Deputy Mayor for Finance & Tourism, contributing to the improvement of the Municipality’s financial management and ensuring transparency and efficiency in the operation of the Municipality of Heraklion.
At the same time, he has played an active role in shaping and promoting Heraklion’s tourism development strategy, aiming to establish the city as a modern year-round city break destination by highlighting its rich cultural, gastronomic and historical identity.
Since January 1st, 2026, he continues his term as Deputy Mayor for Administration & Tourism and also serves as Alternate Mayor of Heraklion, coordinating municipal services and contributing to the modernization of the city’s administrative structure and the improvement of the municipality’s daily operations. Throughout his professional career, he has acquired extensive professional expertise in strategic planning, team leadership and change management.
His strategy includes promoting sustainable development policies, strengthening the local economy and creating better living conditions for citizens. He supports connecting Heraklion’s historical heritage with a modern vision for the city, promoting initiatives that emphasize innovation and collaboration. He holds a Diploma in Business Administration and an MBA from Nottingham Trent University in England.
