Mr. Giannopoulos has a strong academic background. He is a graduate of Business Administration from the Athens University of Economics and Business and holds a Master’s Degree in Finance (MSc in Finance) from Lancaster University. He is also a Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA – CGAP). Mr. Giannopoulos has extensive professional experience in both private and public sectors. He has worked as a certified auditor in audit firms (big 4), responsible for the audit of listed banks. Since 2006 he has been employed at the Capital Market Commission, and currently he is the Head of the Listed Companies Supervision Department, responsible, among other, for monitoring the compliance of listed companies with the Corporate Governance legislation. From 2013 to 2019, he was seconded as an internal auditor in the Internal Audit Service of the European Commission. Currently he participates, as the HCMC’s representative, in ESMA’s, OECD’s and IOSCO’s experts group on corporate governance and sustainable finance.
