
Brigadier General Grigorios Gkoutzelis
Director, Innovation Directorate (ST2), Hellenic National Defence General Staff
Brigadier General Grigorios Gkoutzelis, born in Thessaloniki, Greece, graduated from the Hellenic Military Academy in 1992. He transitioned to the Research-Informatics Corps in 2003, having completed all relevant military and higher education, including the Supreme Joint War College and College of National Defence.
He holds two Master of Science degrees from the University of Macedonia and is certified in Agile Project Management, PRINCE2, ITIL, and MS Azure AI. His distinguished career includes leadership roles in Supply-Transportation and Research-Informatics units, such as Commander of the Hellenic Army Informatics Support Centre, and key staff positions at HQ Force Command Madrid and Resolute Support HQ in Kabul.
Promoted to Brigadier General in 2024, he now directs the Innovation Directorate (ST2) of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian. He is married and has two daughters, aged 24 (applied informatics) and 27 (legal).
