Christos Ampatzis

Christos Ampatzis is a Policy Officer in the Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space of the European Commission, coordinating EU Space R&I activities, and leading the Commission activities for In-Space Operations and Services and the space partnership. He was previously the Head of the Space Technologies Sector in the Health and Digital Executive Agency implementing a large part of the Horizon 2020/Europe Space programme. He has managed several high-impact R&I projects in space technologies and specifically space robotics, and several studies and projects as a Research Fellow in Artificial Intelligence at the European Space Agency’s Advanced Concepts Team. He holds a PhD in Robotics and AI from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
