Dimitrios is a Software Engineer and Ph.D. candidate with a strong academic background in Mathematics (B.Sc., Department of Mathematics, University of Ioannina) and Computer Science with a specialization in Technologies/Applications (M.Sc., Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Ioannina). His doctoral research focuses on sensor-based gait analysis for the diagnosis of movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. With experience in machine learning, biomedical data analysis, and healthcare application development, he has contributed to projects such as STRATIFYHF (heart failure management), SMARTBEAR (independent elderly living), SeeFar (vision impairments), SmartInsole (mobility improvement for Parkinson’s patients), and AI4PA (arthritis diagnosis). He is an author of the SMARTANIMA project, which received funding under the Research Excellence Partnerships 2024 (ranked 4th in the “Creative Industries” category and 63rd overall), aiming to leverage AI to automatically transform scripts into 3D cinematic experiences. He is driven by a vision to transform healthcare through modern technologies.
