Dimitrios Maos

Second Counselor for Economic & Commercial Affairs, Vice President of the Association of Diplomatic Officers for Economic and Commercial Affairs

Head of the Economic and Commercial Affairs Office at the Embassy of Greece in Azerbaijan since October 2025. He was born in Athens. He holds degrees in Political Science (BSc), International Relations (MA), European (MSc) and Balkan Affairs (MSc) from the Universities of Athens, London (LSE) and Amsterdam and is a graduate of the National School of Public Administration.

He began his professional career as an economic diplomat in 2006 at the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and has served at the Offices for Economic and Commercial Affairs in Tel-Aviv, Toronto, Sarajevo and Sofia. He has also worked at the Ministry’s Special Secretariat for the Development of International Programs as officer responsible for International and EU Financing Institutions (2009-2012) and at the Cabinet of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs responsible for European Affairs and Economic Diplomacy (2012-2013), where he was actively involved in Greece’s preparations for its 5th Presidency in the Council of the EU in the first semester of 2014. Between September 2023 and September 2025, he worked at the “Energy, Transport and Supply Chains” Directorate of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Officer responsible for the Region of Central-Eastern and Southeastern Europe.

Since December 2024 he has been a Research Associate at the “Greek Energy Forum”. He is fluent in English and French.
