Dimitris Mardas

Professor of Economics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Former Alternate Minister of Finance and Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs

Professor of Economics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He was born in Istanbul, 25 March 1955. He was appointed as Alternate Minister of Finance from 27 January to August 2015. From October 2015 to November 2016 he was appointed as a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs with responsibility for international economic relations. He was member of the Greek Parliament from October 2015 to July 2019.

From April 2000 to February 2002 he was the Secretary General of Commerce, Ministry of Development. From 2003 to 2004 he was the Managing Director of the Hellenic Export Promotion Organization. He was National Detached Expert, at the Directorate-General for the Internal Market, of the Commission of the EC, from 1992 to 1994. He was merchant, wholesale of toys, from 1982 to 1991.

Doctorat Thesis, University Paris II – Panthéon (1990). Subject: “The theory of Intra-industry Trade: The case of European Economic Community”. His research, published in English and French scientific journals.
