Dr. Georgia Kalantzi is an oceanographer with a PhD in ocean surface wave modeling and over two decades of experience in physical and satellite oceanography. After a long trajectory in research and applied science, she transitioned into entrepreneurship, co-founding AlongRoute in 2022. As CEO and Chief Innovation Officer, she leads the development of AI-powered marine weather intelligence tools that integrate data from satellite observations, reanalysis, and other sources to reconstruct and forecast sea state conditions with high accuracy. The company’s current focus is on enhancing voyage optimization systems through more reliable marine weather inputs. AlongRoute’s work highlights the potential of space-based data to support maritime safety, efficiency, and climate resilience. Georgia’s path bridges scientific depth with entrepreneurial drive, supported by a diverse and interdisciplinary team. She is actively engaged in collaborations across Europe and currently leads AlongRoute through pilot projects and early traction with stakeholders in the shipping technology ecosystem.
