Elina Papaspyropoulou
Director General, Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies
An executive with 27 years of experience in the insurance sector, specializing in liability insurance for major commercial and industrial risks.
Since April 2022, she has held the position of Director General of the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies, the industry body representing the Greek insurance market.
She is also actively involved in shaping industry policy at both the national and European level, as Vice President of the Board of the Occupational Insurance Fund for Insurance Professionals and Staff, as well as of the Greek Institute of Insurance Studies. In addition, she is a Member of the Executive Committee of Insurance Europe, a Member of the Operating Committee of the Insurance Development Forum, and a Board Member of Eficert, the European certification body for insurance professionals.
Her career began in 1997 as a Liability underwriter at Gerling VAG, where in 1999 she took over as Head of the Liability division. She subsequently served as Technical Director (underwriting & claims) at HDI Global SE, Hellas, covering the company’s operations in Greece, the Balkans and SE Mediterranean (2015–2019), before taking on, in September 2019, the role of Head of Facultative Reinsurance at AON Greece, covering the company’s business in Greece and Cyprus.
She holds a law degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and pursued further legal studies at Leibniz University Hannover, Germany.
