
George Liakopoulos

George Liakopoulos is a Greek attorney and banking legal expert. He has been in-house counsel with Piraeus Bank SA for 20 years, initially as Director of Legal Services, then General Manager for Group Corporate and Legal Affairs and for the last 5 years as Group General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer. In the past George has served as Vice Chairman at Geniki Bank (2012-2014) and sat at the Board of Directors of four other Piraeus subsidiary banks (in Bulgaria, Serbia, Cyprus and Egypt) as well as in a number of other financial sector companies. He is currently a Board member of Piraeus Group’s digital bank soon to launch operations. He is a Law graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he also studied Private International Law. He holds an INSEAD diploma in Banking Governance. George is registered with the Thessaloniki Legal Bar. Having been an editorial committee member of the Greek Banking and Securities Law Review in the past, he is a frequent speaker in legal and financial conferences.
