Georgios Salachas

Dr Georgios Salachas is Professor of Plant Physiology and Nutrition at the Department of Agriculture, University of Patras. Graduated from the Agricultural University of Athens, he received his Ph.D. degree in Plant Physiology at the Department of Biology, University of Patras. His research interests are focused on: Aeroponics and Hydroponics Technologies, Life Cycle Assessment, Plant Nutrition and fertilization, Plant Stress and Plant Secondary Metabolism, Aromatic and Medicinal Plants, long preservation of extra virgin olive oil. He has been project manager and has participated in many research and development projects. He is the author or co-author of more than 45 research papers published in scientific international journals. There are more than 2200 citations to his work. He is the inventor of the “Automated Aeroponic Plant Growing System”, (PCT/GR2013/000069, WO/2014/102553) and founding member of the “Cannabis Hub” innovation network, Patras Science Park. He is currently an internal member of the Governing Council of the University of Patras and member of the Scientific Council of the Agrifood Partnership of the Region of Western Greece. He has been Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Patras, vice rector of the former TEI of Western Greece, member of the PSEK of the Region of Western Greece and member of the Greek National Research and Innovation Council.
