George Vardamidis
QA Director Biotechnology Operations, DEMO S.A.
George Vardamidis was born in Athens in 1984. He is a graduate of the Department of Biological Applications and Technologies at the University of Ioannina, with postgraduate studies in the Department of Biotechnology at the University of Glasgow, as well as postgraduate studies at Queen Mary, University of London, focusing on intellectual property management, specifically patents for bio-pharmaceutical products.
He began his career at the multinational pharmaceutical company Lonza Biologics (CDMO) in London, where he worked for ten consecutive years. He started as a Quality Assurance Associate, and after continuous promotions, he undertook the responsibility of Senior Manager – Quality Assurance Operations, successfully leading a team of 55 employees. Simultaneously, the quality assurance team, under his guidance, ensured the necessary approvals for the company’s development, successfully responding to multiple customer inspections and regulatory authorities worldwide.
He currently serves as the QA Director – Biotechnology Operations of the company, with the main goal of developing biological drugs, establishing a quality system, and contributing to the creation of development programs for new scientists (BIO-ACADEMY) in the field of industrial biotechnology, with the aim of subsequently absorbing them internally into DEMO.
