Gerasimos Georgopoulos
Head of Company Law Unit, Ministry of Development
Gerasimos Georgopoulos is a graduate of the University of Piraeus, Department of Economics, and holds a Master’s Degree in “Business Administration” with specialization in “Banking & Finance” from the Open University of Cyprus.
He is a member of the Quality Control Council (QAC) of HAASOB and at the same time a member of the European Accounting Committee and the Accounting Directive Committee (2013/34/EU) which are both responsible for accounting standardization at the EU level in the adoption of IFRS rules and for the European Accounting Standards.
He has extensive experience in company law, annual accounts & related reports, business registers, business transformations (M&A’s), accounting standardization, but also in some specific areas such as fintech, sustainable finance, ESG’s and green bonds. He has cooperated with the European Commission, the OECD and the World Bank and has offered technical assistance in the above topics in many countries worldwide through targeted programs.
Since 2014, he has been appointed as the Head of the Company Law Unit at the Ministry of Development and has joined important positions in the private sector (HSBC Bank Plc., BP Hellas S.A., Mobil Oil Hellas S.A., Alpha Finance). He is married and the father of two daughters.
