Ilias Lekkos

Chief Economist & Head of Investment Strategy, Piraeus Bank Group

Dr. Ilias Lekkos is Chief Economist, Head of Economic Analysis and Investment Strategy of Piraeus Bank Group.

He is also Vice Chairman of the Coordinating Committee on Economic Analysis and Prospects of the Banking Sector of the Hellenic Bank Association (HBA), member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) and member of the External Advisory Committee of the Postgraduate Program “Quantitative Actuarial and Financial Risk Management” at the Athens University of Economics and Business.  Finally, he is a member of the investment committees of TEA PIRAEUS, TEAA AIA, TEA INTRUM and DYNAMIS ASFALISTIKI.

Dr. Lekkos started his professional career at the Bank of England in 1998, initially in the Monetary Instruments & Markets Division, then in the Financial Institutions Regulation Division. Dr. Lekkos then moved successively to HBOS Treasury Services and to the Structured Finance Department at Standard & Poor’s. At the end of 2005 he returned to Greece and until May 2007 he worked at Eurobank-EFG. He has studied economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business and holds a master’s degree from the University of Warwick and a PhD from the University of Lancaster.
