Founder of Lexion

Ioannis Alexopoulos is a mechanical engineer from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), specializing in aerospace engineering, and the founder of Lexion, an R&D company based in Greece and a member of ESA BIC Greece, which develops next-generation propulsion technologies. At the core of Lexion’s work lies the APEX (Airbreathing Pulsed EXplosions) engine, a groundbreaking propulsion system that initially operates in airbreathing mode, combusting with atmospheric oxygen like a jet engine before seamlessly transitioning to rocket mode once it reaches speeds beyond Mach 5, using onboard oxidizer to achieve orbital velocity beyond the atmosphere. Lexion’s goal is to develop the first truly reusable spaceplane, capable of drastically reducing the cost and logistics of space launches.
