Nikos Tachiaos

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport

Nikos Tachiaos was born in Thessaloniki. He graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and is a qualified rural & surveying engineer, with working experience as a freelance professional. He speaks English, French and German. For five consecutive four – year terms, from 1987 through 2006, he was elected city councilor of Thessaloniki, after which time he decided to leave the city council. From July 2007 through October 2009, he served as Deputy Secretary General for International Economic Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2004 to 2010 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Technical Chamber of Greece. From September 2019 to June 2023, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Εlliniko (former Attiko) Metro S.A. Since 27 June 2023, he has been Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, in the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
