Pyrros Dimas is considered one of the most iconic figures in the history of Olympic weightlifting and Greek sports. Born in 1971 in Himarë, he represented Greece and won three Olympic gold medals (1992, 1996, 2000) and one bronze medal at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. During his legendary career, he set 11 European records and 11 world records, establishing his dominance in the sport for more than a decade. Dimas became multiple-time world and European champion and was voted the greatest weightlifting athlete of the century. He is also a member of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Hall of Fame and currently serves as Vice President of the federation. In addition, he worked for nine years with USA Weightlifting, helping develop athletes and promote the sport at an international level. Through his achievements, leadership, and dedication, Pyrros Dimas has become a global symbol of excellence, determination, and Olympic spirit.
