
Soκratis Anagnostou
Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Volos Port Authority
Soκratis Anagnostou was born in Volos and studied in the Faculty of Engineering of Thessaloniki and is a qualified Agricultural Surveyor and Civil Engineer. He served in the Technical Services Directorate of Magnesia where he dealt almost exclusively with port projects. In contrast, he served as a Head of Planning, Studying, and Construction and later became Director of the Technical Service of the University of Thessaly. He developed extensive trade union activity in the Board of Directors of Agricultural Surveyors and Engineers in the Central Representation of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), in the local representative office of the TEE of Magnesia, and on the Board of Directors of the Panhellenic Association of Civil Engineers. He was a member of the Central Steering Committee of the TEE, and for 10 years, he served as President of the TEE of Magnesia. In the Mediterranean Games that Volos bid for, he was a member of the Bidding Committee as well as a member of the first two Mediterranean Games Organizing Committees until the beginning of 2010. In the past, he has served as Vice President of the Volos Port Authority, while since 2019 he has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Volos Port Authority and since 2023 the Secretary General of ELIME. He has undertaken initiatives for the modernization of the port both mechanically and digitally, while he represents the port of Volos in MED CRUISE – Mediterranean Cruise Ports Association.
