
Spyridon Doukakis

Spyros Doukakis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Ionian University and the President of the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP). He studied Mathematics at the University of Patras and the University of Amsterdam (under a State Scholarship Foundation – IKY – fellowship) and earned a second degree in Computer Science from the University of West Attica. He completed postgraduate studies in Computer Communications, Cognitive Science, and Education, and received his PhD from the University of the Aegean, focusing on digital technologies in education. He has also conducted postdoctoral research in educational neuroscience.
He is actively involved in European and research projects and teaches in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Previously, he served as head of an academic department and educator at the American College of Greece, as a specialist advisor for teacher professional development at IEP, and as a scientific collaborator at the Hellenic Parliament and the Ministries of Culture and Finance. He has co-authored school and university textbooks and has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship and the Harvard Club of Boston’s Excellence in Teaching Award. His research focuses on fostering innovation in education, with work in computer science education, educational neuroscience, distance learning, and digital technologies.
