Secretary General for Transport
Stelios Sakaretsios serves as Secretary General for Transport of the Hellenic Republic, leading the digital transformation of Greece’s transport infrastructure and operations.
During the first months of his tenure, he has advanced key reforms, most notably the launch of railway.gov.gr, Greece’s first platform for real-time monitoring of the national railway network with centimeter-level precision.
Previously, he served as President of the Hellenic Cadastre, where land registration progress increased from 39% to 65%, the largest recorded acceleration, while the organization introduced artificial intelligence into administrative decision-making and was featured as a Microsoft case study.
Earlier, he was Head of Digital Operations at the Hellenic Development Bank, contributing to strategic digital initiatives such as the “Know Your Customer” platform.
He has over 15 years of experience in digital transformation and complex systems design. He holds a degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Digital Innovation and Startup Entrepreneurship.
