Tasos Gaitanis

General Secretary of Research and Innovation

Tasos Gaitanis is the General Secretary of Research and Innovation. Until recently, he was a Senior Operational Scientist at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA) and the head of the Preclinical Imaging Unit for PET/CT. He was also the quality manager of the Good Laboratory Practice system at the Pharmacology Laboratory of BRFAA. He studied Biomedical Engineering at the University of Western Attica. In 2001, he obtained a Master’s degree in Medical Physics from the University of Surrey in the UK, and in 2010, he received his Ph.D. in Medical Physics with honors from the University of Patras.

As a researcher, Dr. Gaitanis has participated in numerous funded research projects and is an evaluator for European Union programs and other international organizations. His work has been published in reputable international journals and conference proceedings. Tasos Gaitanis has taught the subject of Molecular Imaging PET/CT in Master’s programs. From 2019 to 2023, he served as the spokesperson for New Democracy, and in the May 2023 elections, he was elected as an MP for the New Democracy party in the B3 South Sector constituency.
