Theodore Papaioannou, Professor, Director of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Medical School at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He received the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and his PhD from the Medical School, NKUA. He is the National representative in the European Coordination Group on HTA for Medical Devices, Chairman of the Research and Technology Committee of the Central Board of Health, Vice President of the Hellenic Society of Digital Medicine and the Hellenic Department of Balkan Medical Union. He was Chairman of the Committee for Negotiation of Prices of Health Services, Medical Devices and Materials of the National Organization For Health Care Services (EOPYY). His research focuses on clinical engineering, development and evaluation of medical devices, health technology assessment, medical data analysis, as well as the history of medicine and medical ethics. He has published more than 250 articles in international journals with more than 9600 citations (h-index 51).
