
Dr Anezina Solomonidou
Planetologist, Scientific Officer at HSC
Dr. Anezina Solomonidou is a planetologist specializing in planetary geology, focusing her research on the potentially habitable worlds of our Solar System. She is a Senior Scientist at the Hellenic Space Center (HSC). She earned her PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the Paris Observatory in France. She has worked for many years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and Caltech in Los Angeles, California, contributing to the Cassini-Huygens and Europa Clipper missions, as well as at the European Space Agency (ESA) in Madrid, where she was involved in preparing ESA’s new space mission, JUICE. Dr. Solomonidou has authored numerous scientific articles in international journals and book chapters. She has proposed a series of planetary experiments and contributed to the design of future space missions. She is Greece’s national delegate to ESA’s Programme Board for Human Spaceflight, Microgravity, and Exploration (PB-HME), as well as to the Science Programme Committee (SPC). Finally, she serves as the President of the Planetary Sciences (PS) Division of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) and is a member of international advisory boards and NASA committees evaluating scientific proposals in planetary science.
