Dr Dimitris Zografopoulos
Senior Legal Counsel (DrJ) – DPO at Greek Ministry of Health
Dr. Zografopoulos is a member of the Athens Bar Association and has been working as a specialist scientist at Data Protection Authority since January 2006. He has, in particular, filed hundreds of cases before the Plenary Session and the Authority’s Department (in particular, in employment and social security cases, insurance companies, health law, press and media law, tax and banking law, the law of education) and has conducted more checks on automated files. Since April 2018, he has been seconded to the Ministry of Health and has taken over the duties of Data Protection Officer (DPO), with the mission of complying with the PC and the supervised bodies to the GDPR. He holds a PhD in Comparative Labor Law (Université de Strasbourg III – Robert Schuman).
He has taught at the Law Schools of the University of Strasbourg and the Democritus University of Thrace and at Postgraduate Programs at Panteion University and the Law School of the University of Athens. Also, since 2008, he has been teaching at the National Centre for Public Administration & Local Government – Training Institute (EKDDA – INEP).
He has participated in the negotiations for the “data protection reform package” (General Regulation on the Protection of the Individual from the Processing of Personal Data (GDPR) and the Directive on the areas of criminal law). He has been appointed as national representative of Greek Ministry of Health National Representative (Greek Ministry of Health) at Experts’ Workshops on health data protection of the European Commission and at the European Commission’s initiative “Towards access to at least 1 million sequenced genomes in the European Union by 2022”.
