Vasileios – Petros Spanakis
Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security
Born in 1976 and raised in Moschato Athens, originally from Crete and Laconia. He is married to Smaragda Malakate, who is an architect and they live together with their son Alexandros in the southern suburbs of Athens.
Graduate of the Department of Business Administration of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) with postgraduate degree at City, University of London.
Worked at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Greece (SOEL) and the Ministry of Finance.
Served as a leader of Student Independent Movement of Youth Organisation of New Democracy Party in Moschato and as an active member of various student and economist unions supporting the New Democracy Party.
Three times elected to the Assembly of Representatives of the Economic Chamber of Greece.
Served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Charity Fund of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens.
Served as the elected President of the Tax Officers Association of Attica & Cyclades region.
Mayoral candidate in the Municipality of Moschato in 2006 and in the municipality of Moschato – Tavros in 2010. Leader of the major minority party in the municipal council of Moschato-Tavros for eight years.
In 2016 appointed as Organisational Secretary of the New Democracy Party and from January 2017 to January 2019 as Secretary of the Secretariat of Special Organisations of New Democracy Party.
Member of the Hellenic Parliament, elected in B3 South Sector Constituency of Athens in National Elections of July 7th 2019, and re-elected in May 21st 2023 and June 25th
Served as a member of the following Parliamentary Committees of the Hellenic Parliament:
Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.
Special Standing Committee on the Financial Statement and the general balance sheet and the Implementation of State Budget.
Special Permanent Committee on Road Safety.
