Greek Exports Forum & Awards 2020

For the 9th consecutive year, the Union of Diplomatic Employees for Economic & Commercial Affairs (ENDY OEY) of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with ethosEVENTS, the economic and business portal banks.com.gr and HRIMA magazine on finance and investments, organize the conference which has become an institution for the exporting sector, Greek Exports Forum  . This year’s event will be organized in parallel with the Greek Exports Awards 2020.

The Greek Exports Awards 2020 have two main goals: to offer Greek exporters valuable tools and information that will enable them to boost their professional activities and to reward the country’s exporting companies, which support the Greek economy by continuing to export their products and/or services despite the adverse circumstances brought by the pandemic.

The Greek Exports Forum & Awards 2020 will take place on
Wednesday 20.01.2021 as a LiveOn Hybrid Event and will include the following sessions

  • The main programme of the Greek Exports Conference
  • The Greek Exports Awards ceremony
  • B2B Consultation Meetings between Greek exporters and diplomatic officers of Economic & Commercial Affairs (ENDY OEY)

A: SPECIAL EXPORTS AWARDS

Α1: Top Greek Export Company 2020

This is the most important award of the event, which will go to the top exporting company of the year. The awarding criteria are the company’s penetration to the global market, its consumer relations, the percentage of exports on its economic out-turn and its overall presence in the Greek business world.

Α2Τop Innovation in Exports

This category encompasses all market sectors and is addressed to companies that view innovation as an inextricable part of their exporting process. This award will go to the company which employs new and creative strategies in order to establish and maintain the basis of its exporting activities.

Α3Top Export Manager of the year

This honorary distinction is not subject to the evaluation criteria applicable to the other awards’ categories but will be decided according to criteria set by the Hellenic Union of Diplomatic Officers for Economic and Commercial Affairs.

Α4: Honorary Export Distinction

This honorary distinction is not subject to the evaluation criteria applicable to the other awards’ categories but will be decided according to criteria set by the Hellenic Union of Diplomatic Officers for Economic and Commercial Affairs.

Β: TOP EXPORT COMPANIES

The awards of the “Top Export Companies” section are addressed solely to the companies, not their products.

The ranking of the winners in the Gold, Silver, Bronze categories will be based on the overall score that they will receive. In the following award categories there may be more than one winners.

This category is addressed to companies with a notably effective exporting strategy. The awards will go to the companies with the best-established penetration strategies to European or international markets as well as those which constantly seek for outlets for further development and engage in targeted promotion of Greek exports to traditional and emerging markets.

More specifically, the categories are the following:

B1. Top Industrial Export Company

Despite the adversities it faces due to the unstable economic environment, Greece’s industrial sector is the core of its economy. This category is addressed to the industrial unit with the best foreign market penetration practices. The award aims at highlighting significant and noteworthy business activities by rewarding the industrial company which stands out in the highly competitive and demanding global market.

 B2. Top Services Export Company

The most effective services exporter will be the winner of this category, which is addressed to businesses involved in a wide range of activities, such as software, marketing services, logistics, consultation, insurance services etc.

B3. Top Manufacturing Export Company

Manufacturing plays a key role in the efficient support of the exporting sector. This category aims to reward the leader in the multi-faceted sector of manufacturing. The winner will be the company with the most remarkable innovations in processing, packaging, handling and distribution procedures, with the best quality features and method of preservation until consumption.

B4Top Trading Export Company

This category aims at rewarding the best commercial practices. It is addressed to companies which undertake business activities for the account of third parties, acting for example as wholesalers or distributors. This category also includes cooperative enterprises operating as commercial agents in foreign markets, directly supporting a production unit or product.

 B5. Top Newly Established Export Company

This award will go to the company with the best practices in the category of startups (established in the last 5 years). In a time when the economic landscape keeps changing and challenges for businesses are constantly transforming, new business initiatives are extremely important. This category aims to promote, highlight and reward newly established companies involved in any market sector (not just the sector of technology) regardless of their size.

C: TOP EXPORT BRANDS

This year’s “Top Export Brands” section includes four awards categories for exporters whose products have effectively penetrated foreign markets.

The ranking of the winners in the Gold, Silver, Bronze categories will be based on the overall score that they will receive. In the following award categories there may be more than one winners.

More specifically, this section includes the following awards:

C1. Top Branded Export Product

A product is exportable when it is innovative enough to create high demand among foreign customers. This category rewards the best trademark, based on a series of parameters such as the innovation embodied by the sign, its value and graphic features, its competitive advantages.

 C2. Top Branded Export Service

This category is addressed to businesses offering integrated exporting services, customized consultation services as well as innovating and alternative networks which provide invaluable support to international commercial activities. It includes specialized products-services such as banking, insurance, logistics, software development, finance, exports’ promotional services etc.

 C3. Top Export Company Brand

This award will go to a company brand with proven qualities such as high competitiveness and brand recognition as well as notable global penetration. The category aims at rewarding practices of effectively structured company brands, which play a determining role in a company’s successful expansion to the international market.

 C4. Top Export Packaging

This category rewards the most attractive packaging, taking into account a series of characteristics such as ergonomics, innovation, aesthetics and consumer acceptance, having market penetration as the ultimate criterion. In many cases, the decision to export a product is accompanied by necessary changes on it. A well-designed product should fulfill the requirements of effective design and certification (of product and packaging materials).

D: TOP EXPORT ASSISTANCE COMPANIES

Apart from the best exporting companies, the Greek Exports Awards aim at promoting companies which provide the best supportive services to exporters. These supporting products and services contribute greatly to the exporting businesses’ success.

The ranking of the winners in the Gold, Silver, Bronze categories will be based on the overall score that they will receive. In the following award categories there may be more than one winners.

More specifically, this section includes the awards categories below:

D1Top Export Assistance Application/IT system

This category is addressed to software or application development companies which support exporting businesses or procedures. The Judging Committee will take into consideration criteria such as the technical characteristics of the applications, the added value they offer to exporting activities and their innovative qualities.

D2. Top Export Assistance Maritime Services

This category is about specialized products and services regarding the maritime sector, such as brokers, port and waterway operation services etc. Fast transportation without delays, the widest possible geographic market range and competitive fares are the main awarding criteria.

D3Top Export International Logistics & Transportation

The nominees should be international transportation, logistics and cargo companies. The award will go to the transportation-storage company with the best supportive services for exports, based on criteria such as speed and quality of transportation means and services, bonus services and competitive prices.

 D4. Top Export Banking Partner

This category is addressed to financial institutions that have the mechanisms to finance international activities of Greek businesses or the tools to support Greek exporters. The winner will be the institution which has been proven to support the exports sector in the best possible way by offering adequate funding as well as specialized products and services.

 D5. Top Export Insurance Partner

The contribution of products and exports credit insurance to the internationalization of Greek companies is oft-repeated and self-evident. The nominees for this award should be insurance companies or financial institutions which offer supporting services to the exports sector, such as exports credit insurance, product recall services, civil liability and risk coverage abroad. The winner will be the company which offers the most attractive insurance packages to exporting businesses.

 D6. Top Export Consultant

The role of consultation services is crucial for a company wishing to export its products and/or services. A consultation company should thoroughly design every detail of the exporting endeavor from start to finish, as one mistake may result in its client’s failure.
