Greek Exports Forum & Awards 2024

Despite inflationary pressures and the instability international markets are facing due to the impact of geopolitical conflicts, Greek exporters managed to achieve a reduction in the trade deficit by €7,744.9 million in 2023 as well as Greece’s second best performance (€50,920.0 million) in the history of the country’s exports.

Greek Exports Forum

At this backdrop, this year’s Greek Exports Forum will highlight the major problems faced by exporters due to the conflicts in the eastern Mediterranean and the attacks in the Suez region, and the assistance in addressing them that competent bodies can provide, spearheaded by staff and the local Offices for Economic and Commercial Affairs  of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the same time, the event will highlight the opportunities that are out there for export businesses, providing valuable information and useful tools to bolster their export activity, while also bringing exporters into contact with potential customers through B2B meetings with importers from various countries.

The Greek Exports Forum will be held digitally through LiveOn Expo Complex, the innovative 3D exhibition and conference center of LiveOn, the Digital Business Communication and Events Platform.

Greek Exports Awards

At the same time, the event will showcase and reward businesses that stood out in the export sector in yet another difficult year impacted by geopolitical conflicts and high costs.

The Greek Exports Awards 2024 ceremony will be hybrid, with guests attending physically at the Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso and also through LiveOn Expo Complex.

For the 12th consecutive year, the Union of Diplomatic Officers for Economic & Commercial Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with ethosEVENTS, the financial and business portal banks.com.gr and the financial and investment magazine HRIMA will organize the Greek Exports Forum, which will be held this year along with Greek Exports Awards.

Over the years the Greek Exports Forum & Awards have given potential exporters the opportunity to listen to the right people, institutional and other market players, and to discuss the latest economic data and the latest development plans. Moreover, successful exporters have the chance to present their companies’ success stories and share their own valuable experiences and knowledge with the public.

ethosEVENTS in cooperation with GREAT EXHIBITIONS, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, will draw lots for a free, 10 m2 kiosk  worth € 10,750 at the SIAL PARIS International Food and Drink Fair which will be held from 19 to 23 October 2024 in Paris.

Submit a nomination as part of these Awards and get your name entered in the draw for that major prize!

Each nomination corresponds to one entry  in that draw!

The draw will be held during the Awards ceremony. The registration fee for the winner of the draw is € 1,290.

B2B Meetings between exporters and representatives of Offices for Economic and Commercial Affairs, Buyers, sponsors and bilateral chambers

The organizers have arranged for potential exporters – participants to hold B2B meetings on Monday and Tuesday 22 and 23 April with representatives of sponsors, buyers and representatives of Offices for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and bilateral Chambers.

At these meetings entrepreneurs will be able to explore the prospect of networking in the markets of interest to them and to learn in detail the difficulties and opportunities for bilateral commercial partnerships.

Note that:

• These meetings will be scheduled by participants themselves and held via LiveOn, the event’s digital platform. They are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

• In order for meetings to take place it is necessary for the relevant representatives of the said Offices for Economic and Commercial Affairs, bilateral chambers and sponsors to respond to/accept the invitation.

• Each participant can book up to four B2B meetings (each lasting 25 minutes with a 5-minute break). The cost of each additional B2B meeting is € 30.

Where the meeting does not take place or is canceled, responsibility lies exclusively with the participant or representative of the said bodies who was unable to attend the meeting.

Top executives from outwardly focused enterprises, representatives of the productive classes, top civil servants as well as the competent government officials present their positions and exchange views on the future of exports, the problems and obstacles that arise and the steps that need to be taken.

In Panel I entitled “An outward-looking approach and international partnerships – how export enterprises can utilize Offices for Economic and Commercial Affairs especially in countries with special conditions”, participants will highlight the valuable and crucial role of economic diplomacy in providing targeted information and in the effective networking of Greek exporters with the aim of successfully dealing with difficulties and further increasing our exports to both existing and new markets.

Panel II on “The “recipe” for success for every exporter: Everything you need to know about the new export credit financing and insurance schemes” will concern how to manage the fluid conditions created by the latest developments. So-called “country risk” will be analyzed and the most recent schemes for the insurance of exporters will be presented.

In Panel III entitled “New areas of interest and cutting edge sectors: The potential of clusters and cutting-edge green energy, circular economy, space technology, IT, ore mining, and other sectors)”, attendees at the Forum will have the opportunity to learn about less popular export sectors that are now gaining ground and have placed our country on the global “map” of technology, through their innovative products and services.
