The Hellenic Union of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision (H.U.I.O.R.P.) and ethosEVENTS, a company of ethosGROUP, in collaboration with the economic & business portal banks.com.gr, the InsuranceWorld magazine and the specialized insurance portal insuranceworld.gr, organize the 2nd Occupational Retirement Provision Forum, which will take place on Thursday and Friday 11-12 February 2021 on LiveOn, ethosGROUP’s Digital Platform for business communication.
Objective of the Conference
The 2nd Occupational Retirement Provision Forum will be attended by professionals of the business sector, employees’/employers’ associations representatives, representatives of supervisory bodies, asset managers, actuaries, chartered accountants, internal auditors and other experts, aiming at a holistic approach of the activities and operation of the Ιnstitutions for Occupational Retirement Provision. Executives, high-ranking -Greek and foreign- officials, esteemed guests and institutional organizations’ representatives will also participate in the 2nd Occupational Retirement Provision Forum.

PANEL I: “Insurance Reform, Capitalization and Supplementary Insurance Institutions.”
The new reform of public supplementary insurance (1st pillar) with the introduction of capitalization features to it and the need to reinforce the entire insurance system with elements of capitalization and diversification of the overall risk, will be thoroughly discussed in this panel. In addition, the participants will analyze the transition to a 3-pillar system and will try to define more clearly the mission of the 2nd and 3rd pillars in Greece’s new insurance map.
PANEL II: “Register of the international experience in the organization and operation of IORP-OPF and analysis of the implementation of the new institutional framework of IORPII at pan-European level.”
In this panel, renowned foreign guests involved in the occupational insurance market, in particular representatives of European professional associations and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority – EIOPA, will analyze the results from the implementation of the 2nd insurance pillar in the member-states of the European Union and will present global practices and the future prospects related to the enactment and application of primary and secondary law and court rulings on occupational insurance.
PANEL IIΙ: “Developments, Conjuncture and Development Perspectives of the 2nd Insurance Pillar.”
This panel will focus mainly on the developments in the occupational insurance sector during the last 12 months, the mapping of the current situation in the economy, healthcare and society and its impact on the 2nd insurance pillar. Special emphasis will be placed on the tracing of growth prospects which will arise in the market of Occupational Funds in 2021 and the coming years, after the changes and interventions that the government is planning to incorporate in its economic and insurance policy.
PANEL IV: “Results of Occupational Pension Funds’ investment management. Future Perspectives.”
Top investment managers will share their expertise on investment policies and analyze the results of investment management of Occupational Funds’ capital reserves. They will also examine the key role of Occupational Insurance Funds, as long-term institutional investors, in the production of capital gains and the increase of reserve capitals to the benefit of their members, the insured employees, as well as the Greek economy. Finally, they will explore the future prospects of money and capital markets and the readjustment of investment managers’ strategies.
PANEL V: “New institutional framework for the operation of IORP-OPF and the need for organizational strengthening of the 2nd Pillar’s supervisory mechanism.”
This panel will analyze the new institutional framework for the operation of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision – Occupational Pension Funds, required by the IORP EU Directive which has been incorporated into Greek legislation by law 4680/2020. How may Occupational Funds function as a useful development tool for social partners and the Greek economy? Specialized executives – services providers involved in the occupational insurance market will share their expertise regarding the operational management of Occupational Pension Funds. Evaluation and proposals regarding the modernization and reinforcement of Occupational Funds’ supervisory institutional framework.
PANEL VI: “Occupational Insurance Funds and Supplementary Health Benefits. 2nd & 3rd Pillar Partnerships. Development of the Occupational Insurance Institution. ”
This panel will record the practices of Occupational Funds regarding the provision of cost-effective integrated supplementary services of primary and secondary healthcare to their insured members. The participants will examine healthcare programs offered by Occupational Insurance Funds (2nd pillar) in cooperation with private hospitals, based on agreements either directly with the latter or through synergies with private insurance companies (3rd pillar). Moreover, they will discuss the latest developments on strategic partnerships between organizations of the 2nd and 3rd pillars for the provision of integrated supplementary insurance services to big groups of insured professionals, as well as the ongoing development process of the institution of Occupational Insurance with the creation of new OPFs.
