2nd Occupational Retirement Provision Forum

The Hellenic Union of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision (H.U.I.O.R.P.) and ethosEVENTS, a company of ethosGROUP, in collaboration with the economic & business portal banks.com.gr, the InsuranceWorld magazine and the specialized insurance portal insuranceworld.gr, organize the 2nd Occupational Retirement Provision Forum, which will take place on Thursday 11 February 2021 on LiveOn, ethosGROUP’s Digital Platform for business communication.

Objective of the Conference

The 2nd Occupational Retirement Provision Forum will be attended by professionals of the business sector, employees’/employers’ associations representatives, representatives of supervisory bodies, asset managers, actuaries, chartered accountants, internal auditors and other experts, aiming at a holistic approach of the activities and operation of the Ιnstitutions for Occupational Retirement Provision. Executives, high-ranking -Greek and foreign- officials, esteemed guests and institutional organizations’ representatives will also participate in the 2nd Occupational Retirement Provision Forum.

PANEL I: “Insurance Reform, Capitalization and Supplementary Insurance Institutions”

The new insurance reform of the auxiliary social insurance (1st pillar) will be put on the table and the need to strengthen the structure of the insurance system with capitalization and risk diversification elements. Discussion on the necessity of the participation of the 2nd and 3rd pillar in the new insurance map of the country and the specialization of their mission.

PANEL II: “Presentation of best European practice on organization and operation of IORPs” 

Presentation by foreign high-ranking speakers, representatives from the occupational insurance sector, European professional bodies and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), about the accumulated experience from operating the 2nd insurance pillar within the European Union countries, international best practices and the latest developments regarding the adoption and application of the IORP II new occupational insurance directive.

PANEL IIΙ: “Assessment of the Greek IORP market and its Growth Prospects for 2021”

On focus will be the developments in the sector of Occupational Insurance during the last 12 months, the mapping of the current economic, healthcare and social context as well as the recording of the latter’s impact on the 2nd insurance pillar and more specifically the tracing of thegrowth prospects that are expected for the Occupational Funds’ sector from 2021 onwards, taking into consideration government’s reformist interventions in the economic and social policy as well as the changes that are anticipated in the 1st pillar of the Social Insurance system.

PANEL IV: “Discussion on the implementation of the IORP II framework and presentation of operational and investment results in the Greek occupational insurance market”

Analysis of the new institutional framework of operation as marked by the incorporation into the national law (L.4680/2020) of the 2nd European Directive for the operation of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision. How can Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision  becomea real developmental tool in the hands of social partners and the Greek economy? Update about operational and asset management results of the Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision by specialized executives, experts and investment managers of the Occupational Funds.

PANEL V: “Occupational Insurance Funds and Supplementary Health Benefits. 2nd & 3rd Pillar Partnerships”

Recording the experience of professional funds in providing integrated supplementary primary and secondary care benefits to their insured members with a very competitive cost-benefit ratio. Analysis of the health benefit plans offered by the Occupational Insurance Funds (second pillar) in cooperation with private hospitals either through direct agreements with them or through partnerships with private insurance companies (third pillar). In addition, the latest developments concerning the conclusion of strategic partnerships between institutions of the 2nd and 3rd insurance pillars for the provision of integrated supplementary insurance benefits to large professional groups are presented.
