"Transition to a new statutory environment for Occupational Insurance: Challenges and Prospects"
The Hellenic Union of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision (H.U.I.O.R.P.) and ethosEVENTS, in collaboration with the banks.com.gr financial and business portal, the InsuranceWorld magazine and the insuranceworld.gr portal, are organizing the 5th Annual Occupational Retirement Provision Forum, which will be held on Thursday 4 April 2024, in person, at the Athenaeum InterContinental hotel in Athens. The Forum will be simultaneously streamed online via the LiveOn Expo Complex, LiveOn’s innovative 3D exhibition and conference center, a digital platform for Business Communication and Events by ethosGROUP.
Objective of the Forum
The Forum titled: “Transition to a new statutory environment for Occupational Insurance: Challenges and Prospects” seeks to record and decode the latest developments which took place over the past year on a national and European level in the field of occupational insurance as well as Greece’s retirement-social security system in general.
Through talks, empirical analyses and detailed presentations by distinguished speakers from Greece and abroad, comprehensive and in-depth information will be provided to participants on issues that are currently of concern to the 2nd pillar of insurance on a domestic and European level, as well as those that are expected to become of concern in the year ahead.
The Forum’s ultimate goal is to holistically present the operating philosophy and role of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision as supplementary pension schemes to all potential stakeholders in the labor market (employers and employees) in regard to the occupational insurance sector.

The Forum aims to:
- highlight the challenges and development prospects for occupational insurance,
- record European and international developments and practices in aspects of the statutory operating framework for occupational funds, and
- present the advantages and benefits that the 2nd pillar of insurance can offer the labor and business community as well as the overall economic and social life of a country, by ensuring adequate pension income and a decent standard of living for employees after the end of their working life as they move into old age.
Special emphasis shall be placed on analyzing the aftermath of the institution of a new regulatory framework for the operation of occupational funds which the Greek State enacted at the end of 2023, the impact of the current challenging international conjuncture characterized by volatility and uncertainties (strong market fluctuations, inflation, reversal of aggressive restrictive monetary policy by central banks, increasing geopolitical tensions, as well as the environmental and climate crisis, among others) on the investment performance of occupational funds from the viewpoint of the competent investment managers, as well as specialized macroeconomic and other social security developments in the domestic economic system.
