"Occupational Insurance: on the path to growth, focused on institutional reforms"
The Hellenic Union of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision (H.U.I.O.R.P.) and ethosEVENTS, a company of ethosGROUP, in collaboration with the economic & business portal banks.com.gr, the InsuranceWorld magazine and the specialized insurance portal insuranceworld.gr, organize the 3rd Occupational Retirement Provision Forum which will take place on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd February 2022 on LiveOn, ethosGROUP’s integrated Digital Communication and Events platform.
Objective of the Forum
This year’s forum, titled “Occupational Insurance: on the path to growth, focused on institutional reforms”, intends to record all developments that took place in occupational insurance in the past year, in Greece and globally, and highlight the role of the 2nd Insurance Pillar as well as the importance of Occupational Insurance Funds for the domestic economic and insurance sector.
In addition, this year’s event aims at emphasizing the challenges and growth opportunities presented in the sector of occupational insurance as well as the benefits and added value which the latter may offer to professionals, businesses and all aspects of a country’s economy and society, by ensuring the adequacy of retirement income which will enable senior citizens to maintain a decent standard of living.
Participants
The 3rd Occupational Retirement Provision Forum will be attended by professionals of the business sector, employees’/employers’ associations representatives, representatives of supervisory bodies, asset managers, actuaries, chartered accountants, internal auditors and other experts, aiming at a holistic approach of the activities and operation of the Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision. Executives, high-ranking -Greek and foreign- officials, esteemed guests and institutional organizations’ representatives will also participate in the Forum.
Τhe 3rd Occupational Retirement Provision Forum includes individual speeches and round tables and panels with certain topics:

1st Panel: Sectoral study on occupational insurance by the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research (I.O.B.E.). Presentation and analysis of research conclusions.
The participants in the 1st Panel will present and comment on the findings of the sectoral study conducted by the Hellenic Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research (I.O.B.E.) upon request of H.U.I.O.R.P. (Hellenic Union of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision). This study records the 20-year course of occupational insurance in Greece, analyzing the institution’s prospects and challenges and drawing important conclusions regarding the positive macroeconomic effect that the development of the 2nd Insurance Pillar and occupational funds may have on the Greek economy.

2nd Panel: Modernization of the institutional framework regarding Occupational Insurance Funds by the competent Ministry of Labour with reformative characteristics. Technical Support by EIOPA, the European experience and the next steps of growthing procedure.
The 2nd Panel aims at analyzing the forthcoming agenda of the Ministry of Labour on the reform and modernization of the institutional framework for the operation of the 2nd Insurance Pillar and occupational insurance funds, which is expected to be implemented within this year. In addition, renowned foreign and Greek speakers will discuss the European experience in relation to the operation of the institution on the basis of best practices.

3rd Panel: Introduction of new Occupational Insurance Funds in the 2nd Insurance Pillar led by the financial sector. Managers of Human Resources departments opt for the solution of occupational insurance.
The main goal of the 3rd panel of the Conference is to stress the dynamic that the financial sector of the Greek economy has developed in the last year in the sector of occupational insurance, with the establishment and operation of occupational funds after an initiative of the employer companies. This dimension of the option of occupational insurance as a result of the synergy and partnership between employers and employees, which could additionally be utilized as a tool for the management, motivation and rewarding of companies’ personnel, will be analyzed by the heads of human resources departments of the employer companies.

4th Panel: Introduction of capitalization system in the 1st Pillar: TEKA (Supplementary Capitalization Insurance Fund), the new Insurance System Supervisory Body and the anticipated multiplicative benefits for the 2nd Pillar.
The 4th Panel will examine the government’s most recent reform on public supplementary insurance of the 1st Pillar with the creation and operation of TEKA (Supplementary Capitalization Insurance Fund), and highlight the 20-year highly effective – and capitalizing – operation of EFKA’s investment companies AEDAK A.O. (Hellenic Pension Mutual Fund Management Company) and EDEKT Asset Management S.A. (Company for the Management of Insurance Organizations’ Investment Funds), which has benefited the insured. Furthermore, the participants will discuss the new Insurance System Supervisory Body for the monitoring of TEKA and the various occupational funds, which the Ministry of Labour is planning to enact. Finally, they will evaluate the collateral long-term benefits for occupational insurance (2nd Pillar) that the new insurance reform of the 1st Pillar is expected to bring.

5th Panel: The new demanding investment environment and the application of ESG criteria in Occupational Funds’ investment strategies.
In the 5th Panel of the Conference, distinguished Greek and foreign investment managers will offer expert opinions on the new demanding investment landscape which has formed due to recent macroeconomic and monetary developments and changes in the sectors of healthcare and finance, and look into the most effective investment strategies for the protection and growth of Occupational Funds’ portfolios and assets. The speakers will also present a special impact analysis in relation to the application of ESG criteria in Occupational Funds’ investment strategies.

6th Panel: A social alliance for the growth of Occupational Insurance Funds in Greece. The Hellenic Occupational Fund: Perspectives and Prospects.
The 6th Panel will look into the prospect for the creation of the Hellenic Occupational Fund by the country’s social partners, which was provided for since 2018 in the National General Collective Labour Agreement. The Hellenic Occupational Fund will be competent for approximately two million employees of the private sector and self-employed professionals, and is expected to function as a “multi-stakeholder” occupational fund which will be capable of insuring multiple professional groups of the private sector and contribute decisively to the growth of the institution of occupational insurance and the capitalizing philosophy of its operation. The Presidents of the national institutional social partners who will participate as speakers in the last Panel of the Conference, are expected to shed light on the different dimensions and prospects of this endeavour
